Tiffany Haddish, the popular comedian and actor, has been arrested for driving under the influence for the second time in two years. The 43-year-old was found asleep in her car, which had stopped in the middle of the road in Beverly Hills, on Friday (November 24).
According to TMZ, Haddish was taken into custody by the police after they received a report of a woman being unresponsive at the wheel of a vehicle. The footage of the arrest showed Haddish being handcuffed and escorted to a police car.
Haddish, who had performed at a free Thanksgiving event in Los Angeles the day before, has since admitted that she needs to get some help to deal with her issues. Speaking to ET, she said: “This will never happen again. I’m going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries.”
This is not the first time that Haddish has been in trouble with the law for driving under the influence. In January 2022, she was also arrested for a DUI after she was found asleep at the wheel. She later made light of the situation during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, joking that she had been praying for a new man and God had sent her four in a uniform.
Haddish, who rose to fame with her role in the 2017 comedy Girls Trip, has also faced legal troubles for her involvement in a series of comedic skits that allegedly featured children in sexually suggestive situations. She was sued by two minors who claimed that she had groomed and sexually abused them during the filming of the skits.
Haddish denied the allegations and said that the skits were meant to be funny but were “not funny at all.” The lawsuit was later dropped by the claimant, who said that he and his family had known Haddish for many years and that she would never harm them.
Haddish has not commented further on her latest arrest, but her fans and colleagues have expressed their concern and support for her on social media. Some of them have urged her to seek professional help and to take care of herself. Others have praised her for her honesty and courage in admitting her mistakes and seeking help.
