Rapper DeJ Loaf has sparked a feud with Moneybagg Yo over the use of the word “Loaf” in his label and collective, Loaf Boyz. The Detroit native claims that she is the original and only Loaf in the rap game, and that Moneybagg Yo and his associates are copying her name without paying homage.
The beef started on Thursday (February 8), when DeJ Loaf posted a video on Instagram showing behind-the-scenes footage of her recently-released music video for “Home”. In the caption, she wrote: “Ay y’all don’t let these n-ggas call themselves ‘Loaf’ It’s only One! And it’s yo mf baby [bread loaf emoji].”
She also took to her Instagram Stories to further express her displeasure, writing: “Pay HOMAGE fuck n-ggas [moneybag emoji].” She added: “It’s only 1 LOAF! Fytb. They tried to stealing everything I came in the game with. My name I ain’t going for! Originality at its finest.”
DeJ Loaf’s posts caught the attention of Moneybagg Yo’s Loaf Boyz affiliate, Fat Wizza, who responded with insults and mockery on his own Instagram Stories. He wrote: “This b-tch say we took her s-t wit the loaf all my fans go spam this cancer patient looking ass b-tch.” He also suggested that DeJ Loaf was irrelevant and desperate for attention, and sarcastically offered her a contract with Loaf Boyz.
Moneybagg Yo, who signed a partnership deal with 10K Projects for his Loaf Boyz label in November 2023, has not publicly addressed the allegations. DeJ Loaf, who hinted at retirement in 2021 but changed her mind after receiving support from fellow Detroit rapper Sada Baby, has not responded to Fat Wizza’s comments.
DeJ Loaf rose to fame in 2014 with her viral hit “Try Me”, which earned her a deal with Columbia Records. She has since released several mixtapes and singles, including collaborations with Big Sean, Lil Wayne, Future, and Rick Ross. She is currently working on her debut album, which is expected to drop in 2024.
Moneybagg Yo is one of the most successful rappers in the industry, with multiple platinum and gold-certified projects, including his latest album, A Gangsta’s Pain, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2023. He is also known for his relationship with fellow rapper Ari Fletcher, who recently gifted him a custom-made Maybach for his birthday.
