Chris Brown is known for his smooth vocals, slick dance moves, and ever-changing hairstyles. But the R&B star recently revealed a side of himself that his fans had never seen before: his childhood perm.
On Tuesday (December 26), Brown shared a photo on Instagram that his father had sent him, showing him as a young boy with a curly hairdo that resembled comedian Katt Williams' signature look. The singer captioned the post with a humorous message, inviting his followers to come up with funny R&B names for his younger self.
"MY DAD SHOWED ME THIS AND I ALMOST PASSED OUT LAUGHING," he wrote with a queasy face emoji. "THIS IS BEFORE THE CSIZZLE DAYS... comment your best R&B singer name in comments."
The post quickly went viral, garnering over 2 million likes and more than 100,000 comments. Many of Brown's fans and friends joined in on the fun, poking fun at his perm and suggesting hilarious nicknames for him.
"LMAOOOOO *Big Boi voice* 'IS THAT A PERM,'" one fan wrote with laughing emojis. "omg Chris please."
"Chris 'Curl' Brown," another commented.
"Chris Perm," a third suggested.
Some of Brown's celebrity pals also chimed in, such as rapper Tyga, who wrote, "Lil Curlz," and singer Tank, who said, "Crispy Curlz."
Brown seemed to enjoy the roasting, as he replied to some of the comments with laughing emojis and thanked his fans for their support.
"Y'all are too funny," he wrote. "I love y'all."
Brown is no stranger to changing up his look, as he has sported various hairstyles over the years, from blond to blue to pink. He recently debuted a new buzz cut, which he showed off in a video of him dancing to his latest single, "Iffy."
Brown is currently working on his 10th studio album, Breezy, which is expected to drop in 2024. He has also collaborated with several artists, such as Drake, Young Thug, H.E.R., and Tory Lanez, on their recent projects.
