The Prince and Princess of Wales have released their family Christmas card for 2023, featuring a black and white portrait of them with their three children.
However, the festive photo has sparked some confusion among royal fans, who noticed that some of the family members seem to have 'missing limbs'.
In the photo, Prince William and Princess Kate are smiling with their sons Prince George, 10, and Prince Louis, 5, and their daughter Princess Charlotte, 8, who is sitting on a chair in front of them.
But some eagle-eyed observers pointed out that Prince Louis appears to have only four fingers on his left hand, and that William and Kate's left legs are nowhere to be seen.
Many speculated that the image had been poorly edited or photoshopped, and took to social media to share their theories.
'While it's a nice family photo, as soon as I looked at it, I noticed Louis' hand. He's missing a finger,' one user wrote.
'Consider the angle of his [William's] supposed right leg, his left leg should be visible in the chair opening unless he's trying to do a split?' another commented.
However, a royal source told the Mail that there is nothing to worry about, and that the 'missing limbs' are just a trick of the eye.
'It's not photoshopped. It seems as if he [Louis]... just bent his finger over. He's certainly not lost a finger – don't worry about that!' the source said.
'As for William and Kate, it could be that William's left leg was hidden behind Charlotte and Kate was standing with one foot in front of the other.'
The source added that the family chose the monochrome image because they liked the 'stylish and simple' look of it, and that it was taken by a friend at their home in Norfolk.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared their family picture online with the caption: 'Our family Christmas card for 2023,' along with a Christmas tree emoji and a red love heart.
The three men and boys are dressed in matching plain shirts - George opting for a Ralph Lauren Polo number - and dark trousers, while Kate and Charlotte have swapped the trousers for denim jeans.
The photo received a lot of praise from royal fans, who complimented the family on their natural and relaxed poses, and remarked on how fast the children are growing up.
'What a beautiful family! They all look so happy and lovely,' one fan gushed.
'Wow, they are growing up so fast! George looks like a young man, Charlotte is a mini Kate, and Louis is adorable,' another said.
Some also noticed that Prince Louis seemed to be on his best behaviour for the photo shoot, unlike on Friday, when he blew out Princess Charlotte's candle during his mother's annual Christmas carol concert in Westminster Abbey, which left his sister in stitches.
'He's such a cheeky monkey, I love it. He probably wanted to make his sister laugh,' one fan said.
'I reckon that's a firm hand on Prince Louis to keep him from running off! Love that mischievous kid,' another joked.
The family portrait is a stark contrast to the 1992 Christmas card from Princess Diana, which featured a young William and Harry in bright and colourful outfits.
The photo, which was recently resurfaced by royal fans, showed the two princes wearing matching red and green sweaters, with Harry sporting a pair of yellow trousers and William a pair of blue ones.
The photo was taken by the late Lord Snowdon, Princess Margaret's former husband, who was a renowned photographer.
Some fans noted the similarity between the two photos, and praised William and Kate for keeping Diana's legacy alive.
'Blast from the past! William and Kate's Christmas family photo bears striking resemblance to 1992 card from Diana of her two royal boys,' one fan wrote.
'They are such a lovely family, and I'm sure Diana would be so proud of them,' another said.
