He’s Benny Blanco, a famous pop music producer and songwriter who has worked with artists like Justin Bieber, Halsey, Maroon 5, Rihanna, and more. The two have been dating since December 2023, when Gomez confirmed their relationship on Instagram by liking and commenting on Blanco’s posts1.
Gomez and Blanco have collaborated before on the song “I Can’t Get Enough” in 20192, but they seem to have hit it off even more since then. They have been spotted together at various events, such as the Golden Globes in January 20243, where Gomez wore a diamond ring on her left hand.
On Monday night, Gomez made a special appearance at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, where she was nominated for two awards: outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for her role as Mabel Mora on the Hulu comedy-drama "Only Murders in the Building"4, and outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for her role as herself on the same show5. She won both awards, making history as the first person to win both categories for a comedy series.
Gomez was joined by her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, who play Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam, two strangers who live in the same apartment building as Gomez’s character Mabel and become obsessed with true crime podcasts. The show is created by Martin and John Hoffman6, who also serve as executive producers along with Gomez.
The three actors shared their joy and gratitude for winning the Emmys on stage, thanking their fans, their families, their colleagues, and each other. They also joked about their friendship and chemistry on screen, saying that they are like “the Three Stooges of true crime”.
After receiving their awards from Anthony Anderson7, who hosted the ceremony for the first time8, Gomez introduced her boyfriend Benny Blanco to her co-stars backstage.
