They seemed like the perfect couple, when they made their red carpet debut at the Grammy Awards last month.
But Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance may be heading for a swift end, after the NFL star’s shocking outburst at the Super Bowl on Sunday.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 33, was caught on camera yelling profanities and throwing his helmet, after his team lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-9.
He also got into a heated argument with the referee, and had to be restrained by his teammates.
His behavior sparked a backlash on social media, with many fans calling him ‘undignified’, ‘classless’, and ‘disrespectful’.
Some also expressed concern for his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, 34, who watched the game from a private suite at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
The pop superstar, who has a history of high-profile breakups, looked visibly upset and uncomfortable, as she witnessed her beau’s meltdown.
She tried to console him after the game, but he reportedly brushed her off and stormed out of the stadium.
Sources close to the couple told MailOnline that their relationship has been strained ever since, and that they are on the verge of splitting up.
“Taylor is very disappointed and hurt by Travis’s behavior. She thought he was a gentleman, but he showed his true colors at the Super Bowl. She doesn’t want to be associated with someone who acts like that,” one source said.
“Travis is also very embarrassed and regretful. He knows he messed up, and he wants to apologize to Taylor and the fans. But he also feels like Taylor is overreacting, and that she should support him no matter what,” another source added.
The sources said that the couple has barely spoken to each other since the Super Bowl, and that they are considering calling it quits.
“They are both very busy and have different schedules. They haven’t seen each other in person, and they are barely texting or calling. They are drifting apart, and it seems like they are heading for a breakup,” one source said.
The sources also said that Taylor’s friends and family are worried about her, and that they think she deserves better than Travis.
“Taylor’s friends and family are very concerned about her. They think Travis is bad news, and that he is not good for her. They want her to dump him, and find someone who treats her with respect and dignity,” one source said.
Taylor and Travis met at a charity event in December, and hit it off instantly. They confirmed their relationship in January, and made their first public appearance at the Grammy Awards, where Taylor won Album of the Year for Folklore.
They seemed very happy and in love, and even sparked engagement rumors, when Taylor was spotted wearing a ring on her left hand.
But their fairy tale romance may be over, after Travis’s Super Bowl fiasco.
Will they be able to patch things up, or will they join the list of Taylor’s ex-lovers?
Only time will tell.
