Vick Hope has expressed her sadness and gratitude to her co-host Jordon North, who announced his departure from BBC Radio 1 after 10 years.

The pair have been hosting the Going Home show together since September 2021, when they replaced Nick Grimshaw on the drivetime slot.

However, on Friday, it was revealed that North would be leaving the station to reportedly join Capital Breakfast, and that Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing would take his place alongside Hope.

Hope took to Instagram to share a series of photos and videos of her and North, and wrote a heartfelt tribute to her “legendary” partner.

She said: “Absolutely gutted, to be honest. Our @jordannorth1 you’re a true @bbcradio1 legend, a dreamy co-host, and an incredibly special friend. There are too many memories for these collages, but what a laugh we’ve had”.

She thanked him for sharing his “wit and warmth”, and said he was “about to soar” in his next chapter.

She also admitted that she was “so sad” that they did not get a proper on-air send off, and joked that their final segment of Judge Jordan, where they accidentally killed off his character, would have to do.

She concluded by thanking their listeners for their support, and welcoming Laing to the show.

North also posted a message on social media, saying he was “overwhelmed” by the reaction to his news, and that he loved his time at Radio 1.

He praised Hope as his “partner in crime”, and said he would miss being on air with her every day.

He did not reveal the reason for his exit, or where he was going next, but said he would share more details soon.

Laing, who will start his new role on March 4, said he was “honoured” and “excited” to join Radio 1, and that he could not wait to work with Hope.

He said: “I’ve been a fan of Radio 1 for as long as I can remember, so to present a show on the station is just incredible”.

Radio 1’s controller Aled Haydn Jones said he was “delighted” to welcome Laing to the station, and that he was “a huge talent who brings a wealth of experience and fun to everything he does”.

He also thanked North for his “incredible contribution” to Radio 1, and wished him “all the best for the future”.
